ACA Welcomes new Education Director
Arlington Center for the Arts welcomes Karen Dillon as Education Director
Introducing Karen Dillon
New Education Director at ACA
The Arlington Center for the Arts is pleased to introduce our newest staff member, Karen Koretsky Dillon, who will begin as ACA's new Education Director in June, replacing long-time Ed. Director Adria Arch, who is leaving ACA after seven years to pursue new opportunities in her career as a visual artist.
Karen Koretsky Dillon is a visual artist, art educator and owner of ArtisTRY Studio in Arlington, MA, an independent art studio providing art classes and camps to children and teens.
A passionate arts advocate who believes in the power of art as a tool for expression and healing, Karen has worked for over a decade as a volunteer with grieving children at The Children’s Room in Arlington, and serves on the Board of Directors of Our Space, Inc., which provides arts programs for children and teens with cancer. Most recently, Karen has been working with children in the Sudanese community at Arlington’s South Sudanese Community Center.
Karen served two terms on the Arlington Cultural Council, and is an active member of The National Art Educators Association, Arlington Youth and Health Safety Coalition and the Massachusetts Art Educators Association. In 2006 and 2007 she was a grant recipient of Massachusetts Cultural Council grants to produce programs she developed for children to connect to public art. In 2006, Karen received the MCC’s prestigious Gold Star Award for her Arlington Art Hunt public art project.
In addition to teaching at ArtisTRY, Karen has taught in the Arlington Public Schools, the Lexington Montessori School, and has taught art to adults in private local studios.
ACA Executive Director John Budzyna is excited to welcome Karen to the ACA staff, saying, “we are fortunate to have Karen join the ACA team. She has the experience, vision and passion for arts education we believe will help ACA continue to grow both now and into the future.”
